Welcome to LUTheatre!

Leicester University Theatre (LUT) is the University of Leicester's resident theatre society.

LUT is one of the biggest and longest-standing societies at the University and we provide a lot of opportunities for our members. We currently stage eight full-length productions each year, ranging from Broadway musicals to Greek classics, Shakespeare and new ventures by up-and-coming in-house talents.
If you're not interested in getting onstage and basking in the limelight, join our dynamic technical crew, where we provide training for backstage disciplines including stage management, sound and lighting design and operation, set construction, properties, wardrobe and makeup, as well as other areas such as publicity and marketing, and front of house sales.

In addition to these productions, we also offer a variety of other activities, including Proteus, our fortnightly comedy and short sketch performance showcase and Open House, which offers a range of workshops, tutorials and Fusion, where we write, film and edit short sketches.
There are also additional opportunities to get involved with, including collaborative events with other societies, charity fundraising and outreach opportunities.

Recently, we have been awarded Society of the Year and Committee of the Year (2016/17) by the University of Leicester's Students' Union!

You can buy membership for the current academic year by talking to one of our Committee members, or purchasing membership through the Leicester Union website: LUTheatre.
